To whom these Regs. apply?

Individuals charged with the responsibility to provide clean drinking water via small (as small as a home or farm) and large (large as a residential community)  water treatment systems.

"Ensure you have a properly designed and cost effective system"

MEQA Technologists will guide you through the design and purchase of a proper water treatment system.

MEQA will begin by testing your surface or ground water to determine water quality before you begin to decide on what system you will require or can budget.

We can assist trainees to become certified operators as per O.Regs. 169/03 and 170/03

The following Health-Based Standards will part of your start-up considerations.

Maximum Acceptable Concentration (MAC)

The MAC is established for parameters that, when present above a certain concentration, have known or suspected adverse health effects. The length of time the MAC can be exceeded without health effects will depend on the nature and concentration of the parameter.

Here are some MACs that have been established for drinking water:     Lead: 0.01 mg/L, Diazinon: 0.02 mg/L,     Uranium: 0.02 mg/L.

Interim Maximum Acceptable Concentration (IMAC)

The IMAC is established for parameters either when there are insufficient toxicological data to establish a MAC with reasonable certainty, or when it is not feasible for practical reasons to establish a MAC at the desired level.

Here are some IMACs that have been established for drinking water:   Bromate: 0.01 mg/L,   Glyphosate: 0.28 mg/L,    Trifluralin: 0.045 mg/L.

Small clean water systems can be as little as Ultraviolet (UV light) primary disinfection.

Your system may require filtering.

Depending on effluent requirements and numbers to be served, your clean water system could include many stages of disinfection/treatment.
